Our Verdict
Topstep is assessed here on its regulatory licences, published trading costs, platform range and account terms. Its licences from Unregulated (Prop Firm) are the primary safeguard for client funds — check each licence number on the regulator's own register before depositing.
Topstep advertises execution of 5ms and offers Tradovate. That execution figure is the broker's own published claim, not a speed we have measured — real fills vary with account type, session liquidity and news conditions.

Regulatory record
Primary registersPublic enforcement records & market-access notices
No public enforcement actions on record (last checked 28 Jul 2026).
Regulated-perimeter note
US futures prop firm. Evaluation/simulation product sits outside the regulated perimeter; however Topstep Brokerage is a CFTC-registered, NFA-member introducing broker, and Topstep Advisory LLC registered with the NFA as a Swap Firm and approved CTA (~May 2025) — partly inside the CFTC/NFA perimeter. A 2025 private civil suit (unregistered-CPO allegation) is litigation, not a regulatory action, and is excluded.
